The Black & White Rainbow, The Beatles-The Band of the Century

Ladies & Gentleman THE BEATLES
50 Years Later

The Beatles, the group that showed the world what it really meant to be a BAND, no need to talk about the huge imprint they have left on the music industry.  However I will talk about the great impact this historic band left on the fashion industry.  Setting trends and wearing fashions that are still seen today, help them become the household names they are.  50 Years after the start of the band and this group is still being talked about, listened to, and emulated by some of the most famous musicians out today.  John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr sold out more arena's and records than anyone today can even imagine.  During the time of change and chaos, their music was heard all around the world, their faces seen on billboards everywhere, bringing joy to all those who listened.  I for one have a couple of their songs on my iPod that I jam to when I'm in a mellow mood (Hey Jude has been my favorite ever since sleep away camp at FVL 2007).  And I can't pretend that I don't Google them often to get inspired, when I am stuck and need something different and unique.

The Black & White Rainbow is how I sum up this band.  When you look at pictures and videos of the group they usually have on suits preferably black or white.  But the people who were around when the band was at its peak expierence way more than that.  They were wearing costumes before Lady Gaga put on her first feather dress, yes I said it, stars of today all were inspired by The Beatles many unique and bazaar trends.  From bright colored military suits and colored denim, to suspenders styled with a Newsies cap (love that movie).  They experimented with them all.  But they never shied too far away from the original classic trade mark of black blazers, grey tone slacks, maybe even a splash of color with a silk like scarf.  And don’t forget the jackets to keep them warm during those cold Liver Pool winters.

These fashions kind of remind me of most urban fashions you see today.  Like in stores such as Urban Outfitters (personal fav); 80’s Purple, Top Shop, American Apparel, Karma Loop, and The Urban Apparel.  I always love how old fashions make a comeback; I am the first to say that I look like I’m in a different time zone every day.

Does this look familiar..A Picture From The Urban Apparel website which is clearly inspired by these historic icons

Best Dressed Celebs, So Different, So Original

One Celebs Style VS Another
Celebs now a days are the trend setters.  They are featured on the covers of prestigious magazines, and are the faces of many designer lines and products.  But there are those few breaks out celebs that do something a little extra to be recognized for their great fashion sense.  Originality is the key now a days.  From Lady Gaga, to Blake Lively, from Pharrell to Kanye West, these icons have such great styles of their own.  They are not only actresses, singers, and rappers anymore, they are fashion icons.  I for one believe having great fashion since makes their career just that much more interesting and exciting.  I know the people who I look forward to seeing on the red carpet of some special event.  Here are some of the celebs of this generation who are so different yet look so good.

Gaga VS Rihanna

Lady Gaga is the new Pop Star that wows fans all over the world with her outrageous style & unique songs as well as video's
Rihanna the R&B/Punky singer who is known for her edgy style and numerous top charting hits
Amber VS Blake

Amber Rose is a model who has previously been linked to having a relationship with Fashionisto/Rapper Kanye West, she has a playful but punk style & always dresses to impress
Blake Lively our own Gossip Girl has come into her own and shown everyone she is not just fashionable on the show, this trend setter has been featured in many magazines and has been wearing the top designers in the industry
Beckham VS Kanye

Kanye West; singer, songwriter, rapper extraordinaire shows off on a daily in metallic suits and a pair of his fresh shoes from his own line.  His antics on & off the stage always draws our attention whether he is in a suit or a nice new printed cardigan
David Beckham isn't just good for kicking a ball, besides being any amazing soccer player and a sex symbol for Armani Exchange, he also has his own personal style that lets us all know he's a suave guy from England
Justin VS Pharrell

Justin Timberlake is a pop singer who is usually over looked when it comes to his style, I personally think its cute and a little unique with his signature hats to always set it off

Sex Sells, Just Ask Tom, or Shall I Say Mr. Ford

Mr. Ford Looking Rather Mature And Handsom
Tom Ford, now known to everyone as Mr. Ford, is back! And he is not the same Ford that everyone is use to.  The sexy ads, and clothes are still the same.  But the way he came about approaching his new line is completely different.  Mr. Ford is shying away from the lime light.  He doesn’t want bloggers (like myself) as well as critics, to get a hold of his clothes before his fashion is even shipped to one of his many Tom Ford stores.  This worldwide brand has always appealed to all different types of women; including different body types, and different ages.  After the reading the write up Vogue Magazine featured in their November issue, about Mr. Ford’s return, I just had to do some investigating on Mr. Ford myself.  Not only is Mr. Ford so amazing for having many different talents in the fashion industry today, he is also amazing for having my birthday! Yes another August 27th baby..(Though just a few years older than me okay more than a few) he is 49 years old and still convinced that sex sells.  And from his popularity he seems to be right.

Mr. Ford was once a designer for brands such as; Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci.  He made those brands sexier during the 90's and had the normal conservative Gucci wearing woman, started coming out of their shell.  Ford has told Vogue "There's a continuity from what I was doing at YSL at the end; that’s the customer."  Meaning all the work that he was doing as head of YSL creative director, has been part of the inspiration for his new collection.  His bold flashy sunglasses, sweet smelling perfumes, and fashions are seen all around the world.  Though some of his ads were banned I think that his creativity should be shown and not frowned upon by the men and women in cheap suits that probably have never entered a Tom Ford store in their life.  Mr. Ford is bold, and back-he's changing up his collection and coming back on his own terms, he's running the show now.

The Devil Wears Prada...As well ass Gucci, Oscar De La Renta, & MORE

The Devil Wears Prada is a book that reached the New York Times bestsellers list in 2003.  But this isn't just any book.  I am currently in the process of finishing the book (school work, blogging, shopping, Vogue browsing, shopping leaves very little time for recreational reading) and it’s AMAZING!  I knew I would love the book because I absolutely loved the Movie that landed on the big screen in June of 2006.  The movie was a great reflection of the New York City fast pace lifestyle, and the fashion was to die for!  The costume designer in the movie, Patricia Field who has also styled the cast of Sex & the City, did a wonderful job at portraying the internal layer of the fashion industry.  She brought couture to the big screen.
Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep play opposite of each other in this film and the amount of chemistry these two well respected actresses showed, made the movie go from being categorized as another Blockbuster, to a box office hit!

Hathaway played the role of Andy Sachs, and if I do say so myself, she played it well.  The geek became chic, the book nerd turned into a girl rocking the above amazing Chanel thigh high leather boots.  Andy started out as a girl straight out of college coming to THE BIG CITY to peruse her career and become a writer for the New York Times.  But Sachs lands a job as a personal assistant at a big fashion magazine (Runway) which is way out of her comfort zone, and is surrounded by Fashionistas & Fashionistos like myself.  I would love to have a job like this, working under the woman who is single handedly runs the fashion industry.

"Her opinion is the only one that matters"
Miranda Prisely, played by Maryl Streep, is the editor and chief of the biggest fashion magazine in the United States.  She is portrayed as an intimidating woman, who is both feared and respected as the head of the fashion industry.  Ohhh, have I forgot to mention to my readers that this is what I want to be!  Editor & Chief of Vogue magazine is my goal, just to let you guys know for future reference.  Anyway, Miranda makes the final decision on what is going in Runway which ultimately determines the new trends and styles of each season.  Tiffany's, Michael Kors, Prada, Chanel, Tom Ford, are just a few of the things you will find at the tip of this editors tongue at any given time.

Get Inside The Author's Head

Vogue's editor and chief, Anna Wintour (as all of you know is my Idol) is supposed to be the inspiration to this Film.  Miranda Prisely has been rumored to be loosely based off of Wintour and her "ice queen" personality.  The author of the book Lauren Weisberger, was the personal assistant to Anna a few years prior to the publishing of the book, which lead critics and readers to believe that Miranda was indeed based off of Anna.  Specific trademarks both women embraced such as Anna's love for ubiquitous sunglasses, and Miranda's obsession with a certain Hermes scarves.  The two perfectionists are one of a kind, strong, determined, and smart who are willing to break a few hearts, and make a few enemies in order to make it to the top and stay there.  I applaud this attitude and hope to keep myself focus in order to be just as successful as Anna Wintour.  Years from now I would be honored to have this much impact on the world.

Is it me or are the similarities between these two Women overwhelming.
