The Devil Wears Prada is a book that reached the New York Times bestsellers list in 2003. But this isn't just any book. I am currently in the process of finishing the book (school work, blogging, shopping, Vogue browsing, shopping leaves very little time for recreational reading) and it’s AMAZING! I knew I would love the book because I absolutely loved the Movie that landed on the big screen in June of 2006. The movie was a great reflection of the New York City fast pace lifestyle, and the fashion was to die for! The costume designer in the movie, Patricia Field who has also styled the cast of Sex & the City, did a wonderful job at portraying the internal layer of the fashion industry. She brought couture to the big screen.
Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep play opposite of each other in this film and the amount of chemistry these two well respected actresses showed, made the movie go from being categorized as another Blockbuster, to a box office hit!
Hathaway played the role of Andy Sachs, and if I do say so myself, she played it well. The geek became chic, the book nerd turned into a girl rocking the above amazing Chanel thigh high leather boots. Andy started out as a girl straight out of college coming to THE BIG CITY to peruse her career and become a writer for the New York Times. But Sachs lands a job as a personal assistant at a big fashion magazine (Runway) which is way out of her comfort zone, and is surrounded by Fashionistas & Fashionistos like myself. I would love to have a job like this, working under the woman who is single handedly runs the fashion industry.
"Her opinion is the only one that matters"
Miranda Prisely, played by Maryl Streep, is the editor and chief of the biggest fashion magazine in the United States. She is portrayed as an intimidating woman, who is both feared and respected as the head of the fashion industry. Ohhh, have I forgot to mention to my readers that this is what I want to be! Editor & Chief of Vogue magazine is my goal, just to let you guys know for future reference. Anyway, Miranda makes the final decision on what is going in Runway which ultimately determines the new trends and styles of each season. Tiffany's, Michael Kors, Prada, Chanel, Tom Ford, are just a few of the things you will find at the tip of this editors tongue at any given time.
Get Inside The Author's Head
Vogue's editor and chief, Anna Wintour (as all of you know is my Idol) is supposed to be the inspiration to this Film. Miranda Prisely has been rumored to be loosely based off of Wintour and her "ice queen" personality. The author of the book Lauren Weisberger, was the personal assistant to Anna a few years prior to the publishing of the book, which lead critics and readers to believe that Miranda was indeed based off of Anna. Specific trademarks both women embraced such as Anna's love for ubiquitous sunglasses, and Miranda's obsession with a certain Hermes scarves. The two perfectionists are one of a kind, strong, determined, and smart who are willing to break a few hearts, and make a few enemies in order to make it to the top and stay there. I applaud this attitude and hope to keep myself focus in order to be just as successful as Anna Wintour. Years from now I would be honored to have this much impact on the world.

Is it me or are the similarities between these two Women overwhelming.
