It's Snowing In The Tri State But The Cruise Lines Are Sailing Off

Winter Wonderland

Jason Wu Cruise Line 2011
Very catchy title if you ask me (but then again if you ask me my whole blog is super cool so I don't know if my self evaluation is appropriate).  Anyway there is a method to my madness, every title has a purpose.  On Monday I was sitting in my room waiting for my dad to finish breakfast, usually he would go out and buy bagels but there was a slight problem with that, I'm in New Jersey and there is about 18" of snow on the ground (perfect driving weather if you ask me).  But who does?  But all that was just me blabbering on, the only relevance in what I said was the fact that it has been snowing like crazy here.  The result of this “Blizzard” looks like a winter wonderland.  But the fashion industry, even though the fashion capital is located in my backyard (NYC), is convinced that everyone is leaving this cold weather and heading to the islands to keep warm, (as if the heat in their houses can't keep them warm enough).  I'm more of the islands in the spring kind of person (Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Florida) places just as hot as our spring time weather, just a thousand times more beautiful.

But for those of you like me who decided to stay home and play in the snow, don't worry, you get to shop all the after Christmas sales and rack up while all the others vacation in their new Jason Wu or Chanel cruise line apparel.  I picked these two lines because one represents the past and the other represents the future, and now these two brands are sending their models down the runway to strut their resort collection.  The wait is over, and pre-order purchases are being made all over the world for these resort pieces.  I honestly don't know the difference between a designers resort line and there spring/summer line.  If one of my readers would like to inform me that would be great, but as for now enjoy the snow, or the tropics, and the company of your close friends and family during this wonderful holiday season.

A Post For The "Fun Sized" All The 5'9" & Below

For All The Real Life Gnomes

So I was video chatting today with this amazing genius Jason, who gave me a great idea for my next post.  He suggested I make a post for petite people.  And I thought this was brilliant and would be a change in pace considering I usually have tall 5'9" and up models photos straight of the runway.  But as a 5'5" female in America I want to be represented to, even though I am still growing I may never reach the 5'9" height that I have always hoped for.  So for now I use little tricks to make myself look lengthy, in my fashion pictures without just throwing on a pair of 4 inch heels.

Take my friend Jessica, she is very stylish and knows how to pose in order for her legs to look long.  She is only 5'6" but by placing herself in such a small area, she looks a lot taller than that.
So we all know Twiggy, the fashion icon.  A petite model who stays at 5'6" but looks even larger than life.  If I would have never looked up her height on google, if someone told me she walked the Yves Saint Laurent catwalk in the fall of 1968 I would have believed them.

Larger Than Life
Ladies & Gents from head to toe, my friend Lena looks absoulutely fab.  She rocks a simple look but pulls it off so well.  She is only 5'7" but her legs look almost 5'5"..if you do the math and look at the pic its not technically possible, so you can ignore those insignificant numbers and let the picture speak for itself.
Moss measures up.  Kate Moss is so similar to Twiggy it is almost scary.  There looks are are both distinguished and different from each other, but the blonde haired beauties know how to shape their bodies so they can compete with the lengthy cat walk models.

Happy Holidays From Bobbie Austin, All Smiles & Blue Skies..

  Happy Christmahanakwanzika
(My Sister Jasmine, with an American Apparel sweater, Levi straight leg jeans, and Vince Camuto clogs)

Yesterday was Christmas!  And we all know what that means, "Merry Christmas" BBM's, Tweets, Text, & Facebook post all day long.  But I'm more of the laid back Christmas type.  I will of course say Merry Christmas to my closes friends and respond with a smile or a heart to those of you who send me a “Very Merry Christmas.”  But other than that Christmas is the time I get to eat, sleep, and of course the most important thing open my gifts!!!!  (While avoiding doing Ms. Fio’s 10 page history research paper.)  I know, everyone is complaining about how much their Christmas sucks and blah blah blah cry me a river, make your Christmas special.  Not everyone can get everything they asked for (though I almost did).  But be grateful for what you have and learn how to make the best out of it!
I woke up Christmas morning (and by early I mean 9) in order to open up the small gifts which my sister and mom still try to hide from me so I can have that special element of surprise.  I opened my first gift which was given to me by my very fashionable sister Jasmine, it was an Urban Outfitters floral jacket, that was more like a zip up blouse which I had shown my sister a couple weeks ago.  I was expecting this American Apparel top, but I'm always grateful for whatever cool stuff I get, the jacket was even better in person then online.  The next gifts I opened was from my mother; she got me a Victoria Secret gift card (which may sound a little weird to you but you so don't know my family) and in addition to that she also gave me a bright pink piggy bank for my excessive amount of change I collect.  But the real gift was the money she had in it towards my mink vest that I receive at the end of January.  Now that’s a gift!  I fell in love with the brown fur vest with leather straps and gold buckles, at a cool little fur salon in my town.  I also found a matching hat which I'm going to woe some of my family members into buying me.

My gifts were simple but a few special items I really wanted, and it’s not over from there.  The Dolce Vitta Rabbit fur boots I posted on my Letter to Santa post a couple a weeks ago were also under my tree this morning (Surprise, Surprise).  My dad purchase the Lord and Taylor boots from the store on 5th Ave since we couldn't seem to find them anywhere in Jersey, and it’s close to his office anyway.  Of course I couldn't just wait until Christmas to try them on, the day he brought them home; I walked around in them for about an hour "breaking them in," with 5 inch heels you need to do things like this.  But I had to part with them in order to wrap them and be "surprised."  Now if that’s not enough my other sister, Nia, also got me a rugged destroyed looking True Religion hat to add to my immense collection.  This is my second True Religion hat, but this one is even more special to me than the other, because I received it as a gift, as opposed to my other one that I received as a reward for studying 4 hours straight during spring break.
I lucked up this year, and everything that I truly wanted I received.  And of course I was very excited about that, so I had to try on every piece that I got.  I didn’t even leave the house or have the outfits on for more than an hour each, just wanted to flaunt my new stuff in front of all of my family, and of course the camera too!  Three different outfits with all three of my gifts on-and here is the result.  It's a step up from my last web cam photo shoot but still doesn’t have the professionalism I was looking for.  I had to beg my sister to take these pictures in my floral designed living room, which went with one of my themes more than the other two.  But the chilly winter has not been cooperating with my vision so these amateur, but still pretty cool, pictures will have to do.  Tell me what you think!  And Happy Holidays From Bobbie Austin <3

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays..Now Here's My Post About Florence Welch !

It's Christmas!...Okay Cool Back To FASHION!

I don't know what it is but lately I have been infatuated with everything and anything British.  British music, fashion, people, and accents (and I happen to have an amazing one.)  My newest British obbsession is with music artist Florence Welch which many of you recongnize her by her recording name Florence and the Machine.  She is a solo artist (which I just figured out) and the machine comes with this cool interesting story that I read on wikipedia, which I'm not going to explain to you based on the fact that its really irrelavant.  But I digress, back to the main topic of discussion-Florence Welch-and her amazing fashion since.  The london native is one of the most fashionable artist out today, in my opinion she is extremly under rated as an artist and fashionista.  The big household names we hear about all the time, hold the top charting singles and grace the big magazine covers due to their commercial songs they sing, rap, scream, or whatever they do to please the bussiness executives who cut their huge checks.

True talent is now coming from underground artist who are not as well know but just as good sometimes even better then the "big stars".  Florence Welch has been around for a while, years before her music started playing on MTV and years before she was being considered for a Grammy Nomination.  Her dark disturbing music, is different and her voice reminds me a little of Britsh singer Duffy who I also adore.  My favorite song by this rising star happens to be one of her more famous songs, Dog Days Are Over, I know, I know I have been caught of just listening to the songs that come on MTV or the radio.  But hey what can I say, I like what I hear, and as I continued to youtube and research more about Florence-I discovered other great songs by her-and even better costumes.  I usually don't call outfits costumes, because my first impression when I think of the word costumes is halloween, or clown suit, but in this case I can say costume and let my readers see for themselves why I can use that word.  I don't considered her style clown like or halloween themed what so ever, thats not what I'm trying insinuate, but I can't just call her fashions outfits.  An outfit is one part of a person, its the clothes they lay on there backs, or cuff their butts.  But Florence does way more than that, she styles her outfits to in-corporate with her hair, make up, and even her tattoos.  She doesn't want to just dress the part, she wants to look the part too, and I admire that about her.  I see Florence (and whoever those machines are) doing even bigger and better things in the future, in the music and fashion industry.
